Daybreaking

Need to do a simple knit, with not much thinking involved, but am fed up of socks.  Decided Stephen West's Daybreak pattern would be ideal.

This was a great pattern and I really enjoyed it, though I did stop at 18 stripes (instead of 20) and only did 5 purl ridges on the border (should have been 7), but I am waiting for another sample knit yarn to arrive so I needed this off the needles.

This shawl should get a lot of wear, and as I am going out tonight with a friend it will have its first outing.

I even managed to take some pictures outside today as it has stopped raining and the sun came out.  I hung it on the line under the pergola, which gets lots of sun all year round, I must remember to take some pictures of my hand knit socks on the line next time I wash them.

Hope you have a good week.

Socking Along

Life has been pretty busy with sample knits for a designer I work for, so I have not had much time to knit for myself, so any spare time has been taken up with small projects, mainly socks.

These are socks that I knitted in three days between commissions, the pattern is Simple Skyp socks which can be found on ravelry here.  This is a great pattern and is quick and easy, but gives you some variety from plain vanilla socks.  The yarn is by The Yarn Addict Bambino Sock Yarn, this so gorgeous and squishy.

I've have just started on Daybreak Shawl by Stephen West, which I am hoping to have completed by the end of the week, as I have another commission coming the post for a sample for a book.  Can't say anymore about that though at present.

Thanks for popping by. Have a good week.  Anita.

Missing in Action!!

Well I've not blogged for a very long time nearly 5 years in fact, but my husband keeps nagging me so I thought today was the day.   Have been for  a long family walk, the girls are relaxing and the hubby is reading.  So whilst I drink me cup of tea I thought I would show you my latest creation.  Not card making but knitting.

I've been wanting to knit this cute little guy for a while, and on Thursday last week I finally got round to it.  He is made from handspun which I spun up just before Christmas.  The roving was a special from Wingham Wools, and it was a joy to do, I chained plied it and got 120 yards of a DK weight yarn.

The pattern is Voodoo You Love Me by Susan Claudino, super easy knit and brilliantly written pattern, highly recommend it.

It only took a couple of evenings to make, and my hubby is really pleased with him.  It will be his only companion in his office, as he going self employed and is moving into the summer house/office.

He is sitting in a yarn bowl I bought at Unravel last week, which has been extremely useful, no more yarn rolling around the floor getting covered by cat fluff, or even being attacked by said cat.

More Christmas Cards

I'm very behind on my Christmas cards, and sure many of you have finished yours.

Anyway I made these on Wednesday when my friend Amanda and I got together for a crafting evening (without wine!!) I made these two cards and coloured in 4 more images.

The DP and cardstock, ribbon are from my stash. The sentiment stamp is from HOTP, part of a QVC kit (click on the image to see it in more detail).

Hope you are all having a good weekend, I have to say the girls and I are, even if Mark is working all weekend.

H & S Christmas Tree

Bought this sentiment stamp last year and was just going to stamp it inside the cards, but never used it. When I got these H&S images, I thought they would go really well with the stamp.

I stamped the Christmas Tree with Brilliance ink, then heat embossed it, then rubbed a light green chalk ink stamp over it. H&S coloured in with stampin up wonder crayons. Paper and ribbon from stash.

Have a great day.

Happy Birthday Mum

Its my mum's birthday today and I made this card for her, as I thought the two little hedgehogs, reminded me of my girls running along with her present. Very simple card again but I'm pleased with it.

Knitting - Baby Cards

As you might have gathered I like knitting so this card incorporates the two things I like doing.

It is a very basic card again, the DP is from papermania, cocktail sticks from kitchen, knitting wool, ribbon and beads from stash. As I was just playing around with this card I die cut BOY out with my quickutz, but I'll remove and put the recipients name there instead.
I'm hoping to have sometime to craft tonight, but I've had a particularly bad morning as I was going to pay some money into my account, when I had my purse stolen from my handbag. When I contacted the police they said there were alot of pick pockets around at the moment seeing that we are now in the build-up for the silly season. So as you can imagine I am feeling fed up and a few pounds lighter (not body weight either).

AWOL

I've been absent for so long as I have been busy knitting socks for my local knitting shop (for her display). I've made some fabby stripped over the knee ones, though I did forget to take a picture - I'll do that next time I'm in the shop. I've also been offered a part-time job there so as you can imagine I am overjoyed - lovely wool!!! - though it is dependant on childcare.

Anyway I have decided that I need to sit down and make some christmas cards so I came up with this one. It is very easy, papers from stash, the N is a stencil from Basic Grey (I think) cut out of bazzil basic card stock. I've cut out the Noel with my quickutz Katie dies and heat embossed in white Happy Christmas. Hope you like, I do.

Am I on a roll?

My crafting buddy Amanda came round last night and in the midst of the chaos of house (mark plumbing in a radiator) we managed to make some cards. I made another one of my christmas cards and this one. Not my best but I think my mojo is on its way back!! Hooray.

Though after looking through Amanda lovely new scrapbooking album I think I might have a go at doing some pages, as I have not made any in such a long time. Wish me luck.
Thanks for looking.

Christmas Card

Thought I would have a go a making a Christmas card, I've used this cute H&S image, (thanks Tricia) coloured it in with my wonder crayons from stamping up. The papers I purchased from a kit from QVC last year (scrapbooking/card kit with lots of lovely chipboard embellishments - first time I have used). Pleased with this as I really love the colours, have coloured in another image and will make another tonight - I might have finished my Christmas cards by this time next year - LOL!!1

Have a good day.
